     INTRODUCTIONSt Catherine's School was established by the Sisters of Mercy in 1925. The era of the "convent" school passed in 1983, with the appointment of the first lay principal George deJong, but the Sisters maintained a presence in the school until 1987. The school buildings include two classrooms which allow both side walls to be raised for increased ventilation.
