INTRODUCTION
Ignatius Park College in Cranbrook is part of the network of Edmund Rice schools which operate under the direction of the Christian Brothers. Since the first school opened in Ireland in 1803, Edmund Rice schools have been charged with the responsibility to educate boys in a holistic manner taking care of their mental, spiritual and physical life. At Ignatius Park College, this tradition continues to this day with parents and teachers working together to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students. Ignatius Park College opened on the present site in 1969. It was built to replace Our Lady's Mount on Stanton Terrace, which was becoming inaccessible to the students in the fast growing outer suburbs of Townsville.
