INTRODUCTION
St. Joseph's Catholic School, Mount Isa, is a vibrant, multicultural learning community with an enrolment of 363 students. The school was established in 1932 by the Sisters of St. Joseph as the first Catholic school in the town.. The facility as it is now, is the result of the rationalization of four parish schools, and has grown to be one of Mount Isa's finest schools, with academic, sporting and cultural excellence. St Joseph's provides specialist teaching in Music, Physical Education, Cultural Studies (Languages other than English) It boasts a state of the art library facility, a 30 seat computer laboratory and a modern, well equipped Prep unit. Many levels of student ability are catered for at St. Joseph's with the Student with Disability team and KIA (Kid's Intelligence Agency) program. St. Joseph's staff and families are very active in the community and the school regularly enters local competitions, eisteddfods and interschool sporting events. The P&F and Ladies Auxiliary work in close partnership with the school to provide support for new families, social activities and fundraising. In 2008 the school has introduced a middle schooling approach to education in upper primary linking into Good Shepherd Catholic College for pastoral care, sporting and gifted and talented programs.
