Executive Director's Welcome

Catholic Education has a long history in the Townsville Diocese, with the first schools established in Bowen in 1872 and Townsville in 1873.

Dr Cathy Day

The proud reputation our schools enjoy today is based on the strong tradition built by the religious orders who founded Catholic Education in our Diocese.

Today our schools are administered by lay principals and staff, however they aspire to the same distinctive mission and ideals of maintaining high academic standards within a faith-based education framework.

Our 29 schools serve more than 12,500 students- from boarding colleges and city based schools, through to smaller schools in remote based locations. We now also offer kindergarten at various school sites as well as Catholic early learning centres.

Each of our schools has a unique spirit  and all strive to shape and develop students to become compassionate and contributing members of our world and responsible stewards of our environment.

Catholic Education is alive and well in the Townsville Diocese, with enrolments continuing to increase each year. Such growth is an indication of our strong commitment to providing for the needs of students in an inclusive, life-giving and supportive school community environment.

We welcome you to the growing community that is Catholic Education.

With best wishes,

 Dr Cathy Day
