Executive Director's Welcome

Jacqui FrancisCatholic Education has a long history in the Townsville Diocese, with the first schools established in Bowen in 1872 and Townsville in 1873.

I am very proud of Townsville Catholic Education’s achievements which rest on the shoulders of many clergy, religious orders, lay people, professional educators, families and community members who have contributed since our humble beginnings in Bowen in 1872.

From a single convent school, we are now a system of 29 schools, nine kindergartens and six Early Learning Centres. We offer the families of the Diocese a Catholic education in urban and rural communities across a vast region of north and west Queensland.

The mission of our Catholic schools continues to be the provision of excellent holistic education with Jesus Christ as its foundation. Our Catholic schools are always striving to improve and we place students at the centre of these efforts. This also helps our students to understand how Jesus Christ is central to all that we do. Through the expertise of our dedicated staff, we focus on supporting each student along their individual pathway, from school to valuable community citizen.

To achieve our mission, we have created a very special system of Catholic schools where our values are enlivened in what we do each and every day. Our Catholic schools participate in the evangelising mission of the Church and do so in active partnership with families and parishes.

Catholic Education is alive and well in the Townsville Diocese, with enrolments continuing to increase each year. Our schools are both unique in their spirit and united in their expression of Catholic values. There is something very rewarding in being a part of Townsville Catholic Education.

We welcome you to the growing community that is Catholic Education.
