Townsville Catholic Education and its newest school, St Benedicts Catholic School would like to congratulate the school’s builder, Jackson Semler Pty Ltd on their success at the recently held Master Builders Awards Ceremony.
North Queensland’s biggest building and construction names came together on Friday 24 August at the Ville resort, where Jackson Semler was awarded the ‘Education Facilities over $10 million’ project.
Jackson Semler started construction on the new school in May 2017 with stage one completed in January 2018, with the Kindergarten to Year 6 school, opening its door in January 2018. The school features contemporary learning facilities and embraces sustainable practices for the natural and build environment nurturing a love for creation and stewardship.
The main aspect working with the Jackson Semler team that stood out for St Benedict’s Catholic School Principal, Penny Collins was their attention to detail and enthusiasm to create an innovative and contemporary learning environment.
“Their commitment to working with us and to achieve a green star rating for the school was terrific,” said Penny.
“They took a lot of pride in that themselves and were excited to source different materials and ways of doing things. Their focus on creating an environment that really worked for students and teachers in terms of aesthetics and functionality was incredible.”
Innovative approaches included sourcing paint materials that provided an odour free classroom environment avoiding that new room smell, and they also provided a different form of insulation for classrooms and buildings, maximizing our energy efficiency and assisting with sound ambience.
“This project has had such a positive impact on the local community and Jackson Semler winning the Education Facilities Award is a real testament to what our local builders are capable of,” said Penny.
"The professionalism and ongoing support provided throughout the project has been invaluable."
