Farewell to Dr Cathy Day, Executive Director.

End of her Days at Townsville Catholic Education

Dr Cathy Day will officially hand over her position at Townsville Catholic Education today, as she sails into retirement after 12 years as the company’s Executive Director.

However, Cathy will remain the Chair on the board of the Tropical Brain and Mind Research Foundation. “We are just about to launch a significant project on mental health in Townsville, something we are very much in need of”.

Cathy recently reflected on the many highlights she has been part of throughout her time as Executive Director and says she loved having the opportunity to work with the community to build St Benedict’s Catholic School, Shaw, labelling it “a major highlight”.

In her first year as Executive Director, 12 years ago, Cathy was a key creator of ‘Mulkadee’, one of the most recognised school arts festivals around Australia.
“I was so intent on creating something amazing that would uplift the arts within our Diocese, we had such fantastic arts teachers, and that was something I thought we should build on. Mulkadee is a highlight for me every year, and even after my retirement from Townsville Catholic Education, I’m sure I will participate as an audience member” says Cathy.

After 46 years in education and 12 years at Townsville Catholic Education, Cathy will be handing over the Executive Director’s position to
