National Volunteer Week Project

Service and Social Justice Leaders (Year 12 students)

Southern Cross Catholic College, Annandale

We are the Service and Social Justice leaders at Southern Cross Catholic College, Annandale.

Volunteers are the backbone of our community, and this year we wanted to show the charities involved in our school community just how grateful we are for their services and support.

We wanted to draw attention to our SHINE Project, which is where each grade focuses on a charity and then organises different activities to assist this charity, whether it’s collecting donations, creating awareness or fundraising.

We wanted to celebrate the volunteering aspect and the work that these people do, so we asked each student to write a note to that particular charity to say thank you and that they are appreciated. These special messages have been placed on the wall in the breeze way in our college so that everyone who enters the college can see our wall of appreciation.

In the following weeks, the charities will be visiting our college so they will be able to read all the messages for themselves.

We hope that when they see these special messages, they realise how much we appreciate the important work they do.
