St Mary’s Catholic School, Bowen has delivered an outstanding result in their NAPLAN testing for 2017, ranking as the 17th best-performing school in Queensland for its year 3 results.
Executive Director of Townsville Catholic Education, Dr Cathy Day, said the performance was truly remarkable and St Mary’s was substantially above the national mean in all areas tested in NAPLAN.
"St Mary’s consistently beat the national mean in every domain,” Dr Day said.
“In Grammar and Punctuation, they bettered the national average by a staggering 167 points. This puts the school in a very elite category of schools within Australia.
“Using the My Schools website, they performed better in every domain than like school counterparts and schools in the Bowen district.”
St Mary’s has also out-performed all local schools in every domain in year 5 NAPLAN.
