Every permanent teacher is required to have either:
- Accreditation to Teach Religion in a Catholic School or
- Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School
Having Accreditation to Teach Religion transcends the need for Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School.
Accreditation to Teach Religion in a Catholic School Accreditation will be granted to those applicants that have evidence of the equivalent of four (4) semester units of tertiary studies in the areas of theology, spirituality or religious education.
Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School Accreditation will be granted to those applicants that have evidence of at least twenty-five (25) hours of in-service or appropriate tertiary studies over the past five (5) years in areas such as Catholic schooling, Catholic ethos and the spirituality of the teacher.
If you have already met these requirements, please supply documentary evidence with your application package. Provisional Accreditation will be granted to those who do not meet the requirements. It is the responsibility of those teachers granted Provisional Accreditation to ensure that they meet the requirements for Full Accreditation by the end of the five (5) year period.
