Thinking Science

Townsville’s largest Catholic school, Ryan Catholic College has implemented a special Science Curriculum program in the Middle School called Thinking Science.

The program is an evidence-based, two-year intervention program for Year 7 and 8 students consisting of 30 lessons designed to accelerate students’ cognitive function. It aims to develop students’ general thinking ability with benefits, not only in Science, but across all curriculum areas.

As well as improving cognitive ability, Thinking Science allows students to gain an appreciation for the wonders of science, a practical understanding of concrete concepts and improve confidence and participation.
The College has been working with an international consultant, Tim Smith who visited Ryan Catholic College last week.
