Jacqui Francis will officially start as Executive Director of Townsville Catholic Education today, leading an organisation of more than 2,400 staff who work in 29 schools and are responsible for the education and faith development of 12,000 students.
With her career spanning various sectors and focusing on performance development and organisational capacity roles in Australia, PNG and Philippines, Jacqui now combines her classroom experience with her corporate experience to ensure all Townsville Catholic Education Early Learning Centres, Kindergartens’ and Schools are positioned for success.
Jacqui Francis joined the Diocese in 2013 after moving from Sydney for the Director Organisational Services and Capability role, and says the local Townsville lifestyle makes this the best move of her career.
“The drawcard for Townsville was really the opportunity to work with Catholic Education in a regional location,” Jacqui says. “I enjoy the strong sense of community. I often bump into people I know when I'm out and about and I like that - it's not something that happens often in a place like Sydney, but rather the joy of regional living.”
“One of my first priorities will be to spend time in all of our schools and meet more people in our local communities,” she says.
“I believe that it's important to spend time with our staff, students and other community members to listen and understand what they see as future opportunities and challenges in continuing to improve our schools."
Townsville’s Catholic schools welcome children from all cultures and backgrounds who genuinely seek to be part of a supportive, encouraging learning environments based on Catholic faith and values. The schools foster a spirit of hospitality which allows all to feel included and supported.
“The most important aspect of Townsville's Catholic schools is our values,” shares Jacqui. “Quality education occurs when an environment is safe, nurturing and caring.”
