Townsville Catholic Education Celebrates 150 Years of Education in the Townsville Diocese

Townsville Catholic Education is delighted to commemorate a significant milestone in its history as it celebrates 150 years of providing quality education to students within the Townsville Diocese. St Joseph’s Catholic School, The Strand and St Mary’s Catholic School, Bowen are the two esteemed institutions that have reached this remarkable achievement.

As we celebrate this momentous occasion, it is important to reflect upon the rich histories of these schools and express gratitude to those visionary individuals who brought Catholic Education to the Diocese. Their foresight and dedication have laid the foundation for a tradition of excellence and service that continues to thrive to this day.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to St Joseph’s Catholic School, The Strand and St Mary’s Catholic School, Bowen for their unwavering commitment to educating generations of students and for their continued service to our local community for the past 150 years. Their enduring legacy is a testament to the transformative power of Catholic Education.

To mark this extraordinary milestone, Townsville Catholic Education organised a gala dinner and dance on Saturday, June 24th at The Ville Resort-Casino. The event brought together staff from various schools across the Diocese, providing a unique opportunity for past and present staff to gather and celebrate. Attendees enjoyed a delicious three-course dinner and danced to the lively tunes of Townsville’s very own, Cranky Pants. The event was a resounding success, thanks to the presence and participation of everyone who joined in commemorating this momentous occasion.
