Our Scholarships
Townsville Catholic Education is taking a hands-on approach to attract future educators by offering targeted scholarships.
These three scholarships have been created specifically to address the national teacher shortage and provide financial assistance to local high school and university students who are passionate about pursuing a career in teaching.
SCHOLARSHIPS FOR YEAR 10 STUDENTS
Benefits of a Scholarship:
- Complete a Certificate III in School Based Education Support or Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care in Year 11, at no cost, with work placement of one day per week in a Catholic school (optional)
- Complete two education subjects online through James Cook University (JCU), Central Queensland University (CQU), or University of Southern Queensland (USQ) during Year 11/12, at no cost Upon enrolment in an approved education degree, students may apply for a second scholarship.
EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 1ST YEAR STUDENTS
Students will be provided:
- $2,500 for each year of an approved four year education course.
- Professional development opportunities.
- Final year of professional experience.
- Weekly allowance for final year professional experience placement ($170 per week for rural/ remote or $140 per week Townsville).
- Travel expenses for rural or remote locations.
- Accommodation assistance.
EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 3RD YEAR STUDENTS
Students will be provided:
- $10,000 for the final two years of study in a teacher education course ($5,000 each year).
- Professional development opportunities.
- Final year of professional experience.
- Weekly allowance for final year professional experience placement ($170 per week for rural/remote or $140 per week Townsville).
- Travel expenses for rural or remote locations.
- Accommodation assistance.
