What's With the "6,7" Trend?

What's With the "6,7" Trend?

If you’ve found yourself scratching your head lately after hearing your child or their friends repeatedly say “6,7”, you’re not alone. Many parents have been asking what it means and whether it’s something to be concerned about.

After chatting with a few parent friends (and some students), it turns out the meaning is…well, not much at all! “6,7” is simply a playful phrase that’s doing the rounds among kids and teens, it loosely translates to “so, so” but really it’s just part of the ever-changing language of youth culture.

The phrase is often paired with a hand gesture where kids are moving their hands up and down as if you’re suggesting you’re alright.

Like many trends before it, this one has no deeper meaning or hidden message. It’s a bit of fun, a way for young people to connect, be part of something, share a little in-joke that adults don’t quite get, which of course makes it even more appealing to them.

So parents, rest assured, there’s nothing sinister happening here. It’s just another fleeting phrase that will soon be replaced by the next viral expression or TikTok sound.
